I collaborated with HarperCollins and the talented George McCalman of McCalman.co to work on the cover and a series of 71 portraits for Klancy Miller’s book, For the Culture.

The book is a cultural trailblazer as it features a collection of profiles, recipes and wise conversations with exceptional black women and femmes in the food, beverage and hospitality industry.

In our first meeting, I asked Klancy what she wanted her readers to feel when reading her book. She smiled and said, 'Warmth, uplifted, and connected.' This was the starting point for the cover and the themes I wanted to continue throughout the book.

I had the opportunity to exercise complete creative freedom throughout this project. Each portrait was uniquely influenced by the individual. I was excited to stretch my style, challenge my skill set and have some fun.

The effort and passion poured into this book by the team is amazing and I am so grateful to have been a part of this labour of love.
